Karina Iglesias Tweets About Elimination From The Voice

May 09, 2013 02:00 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

In this week’s shocker on hit reality series The Voice, popular contestant Karina Iglesias found herself booted out of the competition far too early. Upon learning of the elimination, Karina was gracious as usual…and she continued to be while tweeting about the experience later on.

It’s always tough when a talented singer is forced to leave The Voice, and such was certainly the case when Karina Iglesias’ surprising elimination occurred the other day. The results are even more shocking when you learn the slim margins by which Karina was barred from advancing in the competition. And to add to the bittersweet nature of the whole fiasco, Karina found her list of Twitter followers getting quite a bit longer both immediately prior to and in the aftermath of her elimination. She tweeted about this surge in social media activity, explaining, “19 followers short of the “10k” mark…#bittersweet.”

Bittersweet was also the adjective Karina used to describe how she felt about leaving behind fellow contestants Garrett Gardner, Sasha Allen and Kris Thomas. After the trio sent the eliminated contestant their best wishes, she responded with the following message: “gonna miss you guys….FOR REALZ…INSANELY! Kisses…” Karina also thanked NBC for allowing her access to such a unique experience, tweeting, I’d like to thank the show for the RIDE OF MY LIFE! From PAs to wardrobe, make-up and hair, I WILL MISS YOU ALL!”

It’s sad to see Karina Iglesias eliminated after making it so far on The Voice, but hey, sad eliminations are another unfortunate necessity in any reality competition! Did you think it was time for Karina to head home? Or would you have preferred for her to remain in the competition? Sound off in the comments section below!

I love shakira as a singer but she has shown such poor judegment on the voice. I was so upset after losing j-sun and monique. Letting karina go was the last strike. Even worse was justifying her decision by saying karina was too good to move on but garett could become better if he just stays a little longer. I thought the best voice was supposed to win but shakira evidently uses a different standard of measurement.

    Hello Shakira.
I have enjoyed your music/talent, from the earlier days, when you were sponsored by the Estefan family and others, even more presently. However, in regards to the way you expressed your elimination decision, solely based on chance, was not very professional. The Voice, the tv show, is something different. It represents the use of the contestants’ voices that solely enable them to either advance or be eliminated after they give their moment’s best. To pull “A trick out of a hat” is just not part of the show. It actually ruins the whole experience. We all make mistakes in life and only when we face them and admit them, on that instance, we become stronger and a better person. I ask you now to do the right thing and say and face your mistake. Karina Iglesias was clearly a wrong choice, for which you said it, since she is already almost perfect, for which you decided not to advance her since you could not teach her anything else but the others you could. Redeem yourself by offering this talented woman a record deal, just like the Estefans believed in you once. Thank you

I agree – the show is called THE VOICE not THE COACH and Karina is a better singer/performer than Garret in every way. I agreed with the other eliminations, but Shakira got it wrong this time I think.

Shame on you Shakira, you robbed Karina!! They should BOOT you off for your bad judgement. It was clear that your knowledge of coaching didn’t help showcase her talent. She progressed much more with Adam as a coach.

Too bad for the audience; after that powerful duet with Judith Hill I couldn’t wait to hear them again. Now it’s not to be and I am so sad and angry. I’ve lost respect for you as a coach, you don’t know what you’re doing.

Picking Garrett over Karina?? Come on, give your head a shake.

all you people bickering get a grip.. for whatever reason she felt that Garrett should continue is her decision… shes been in the business long enough to know what she is doing..
    i’m behind her decision 100 %
and emilio estefan never gave her a record deal.. emilio simply managed the crossover era of her career

Im sorry but Karina as good as a voice is not coachable and no one in the music industry will sign a person that can’t be coached!! Lets be real honest ” Karina is nothing more then a great Karaoke singer!! If Simon K would have been one of the judges Karina would have never made it past the auditions!!

Such a shame! I don’t know why NBC hasn’t jumped in on this one.
I mean. How could Shakira virtually say I’m not picking you because you are better…Which on “The Voice” means the Winner since it’s premise has been it’s based on the voice??? smh…
Really TRULY don’t understand this one.
Something really should be done… Commenting just isn’t enough…

Simply and quickly put “Wrong choice”. One thing She had what it took to be part of the Top 12. One thing to be eliminated by America (although I question the votes that were counted and think that NBC had a responsibility to the contestants todos revote), but to be eliminated for such a ridiculous reason, “your too good” is ridiculous. Should she have strived to be mediocre? Maybe she would still be there.

Karina is a talent, fierce vocalist and real blessed spirit. I believe in this life EVERYTHING happens for a reason. I thank you Shakira for giving her another chance to let the world witness her talent. Like a child growing into an adult you have to let go….did Shakira let go to soon or not…it doesn’t matter. Karina will FOREVER be talented and we haven’t seen or heard the last of her!!!!!

  10. Shakira Is A Dumb Ass Says:
    May 12th, 2013 at 2:03 pm

Shakira made a completely ignorant choice. Karina was a better singer than Garrett by miles, and Shakira chose Garrett because he could improve? That’s not what the damn show is about!!! Shakira likes Garrett, and she has made this clear throughout all of his performances. She was the only person who turned for him in the blind auditions and he didn’t even deserve that. He has a unique way of singing with the raspiness and everything, but that doesn’t matter. That’s the only talent he has vocally! Karina was a powerhouse vocalist, but she was sent home because Shakira wanted to keep her boy toy. And this isn’t the first time Shakira kept Garrett instead of someone who was clearly a better singer. J-Sun did a much better job than Garrett in the battle rounds, but Shakira kept Garrett like a dumb ass. And while we are talking about Shakira’s dumb decisions, how about we mention the fact that she chose Mary Miranda over Cathia when Cathia was clearly the better singer, and worse than that, Usher chose Josiah over Cathia when Cathia was clearly much more vocally talented. Josiah is a really good looking guy, but that’s not what this show is about! But, back to Garrett and Shakira. Garrett is a nice guy and he has an inspiring story, but he’s not a great singer and we can’t continue to pretend like he is. Shakira is a sweet woman, but she’s a terrible coach and I hope she doesn’t return for a second season – I can’t bare to see other people’s chances at stardom crushed by her idiotic and misguided choices. And while the show’s producers are at it, they should fire Usher too. I was fine with him until he sent Cathia home.

How does a person go about suggesting to whomever a d v d of Judith and Karina doing about ten or so songs for publication. I love the two of them together singing their hearts out and they have great stage presence.

I LOVE SHAKIRA and know she makes right choices, but this one was a really bad choice. Karina was one of the best singers in the competition (mythoughts) The reason for the voice is to find the best voice not eliminate the best voice and keep the other voices that need improve. I REALLY DISAGREE IN THIS DECISION! But hopefully they could bring back Karina for this season, which would be impossible, or she could come back for the next season and try again, knowing that she will be one of the finalist because she has “THE VOICE” Shakira really let down many people. Oh by the way Garrett went home after she said she could improve his voice and thinking he would win,(THAT WAS A BIG FAAAIIILLLLL) I bet Shakira must be EMBARRASSED right now, it’s called being STUPID! Shakira shouldn’t be a couch!!!

It was disappointing to see Karina let go but based on Shakira’s past choices, I knew whomever was paired against Garrett would lose.

I had hoped I was wrong and Shakira would have made that choice based on talent and not on the fact that she had a soft spot for Garrett.

There was nothing stopping her from getting together and coaching him after the show but she shot herself in the foot by choosing Garrett over Karina.

Anthony Pearson get a life. First of all Simon’s last name starts with a “C”. Second Simon may be a douche but he judges TALENT! Can you say Susan Boyle? Simon found her and gave her a makeover. Third record execs want someone who is ready for the big time because time is money and coaching is expensive. Karina was given such s raw deal I can’t stand it.
