With an unbelievably tumultuous season of American Idol drawing to a close, viewers are wondering if controversial judge Nicki Minaj will be returning. No real answers from Nicki just yet, but she does admit that she’s gained a lot from the experience. If only audiences felt the same…
Dubbed the new Simon Cowell of American Idol, Nicki Minaj has perhaps been even a more polarizing figure than the show’s original star judge. While some viewers find the singer-rapper’s blunt style refreshing, many others think that she’s far too rude to be an effective judge. And plenty of these unhappy Idol fans are rooting for Nicki’s departure from the show.
Like the rest of us, Nicki Minaj still has no idea whether she’ll be making a return to the American Idol panel next season. But despite what the rumors might suggest, the judge is not hell-bent on leaving the show for good. In fact, given the opportunity (which, based on this season’s poor ratings, is no sure thing) she just might return. Nicki recently told Ryan Seacrest, “ I love the people on Idol. I genuinely do. If I had to do this all over again, I would have done Idol. Because it’s fun, it’s laughs.”
Nicki adds that, no matter how she acts while judging singers, she really is grateful for the opportunity to be on one of America’s biggest reality shows. “I have to thank them for giving me this chance. They could have picked anyone in the world. And they picked me.”
