Survivor Caramoan Winner Talks Plans For The Prize Money

May 13, 2013 08:29 AM by Lisa Princ

Last night on Survivor: Caramoan, the Fans Vs Favorites season came to end as John Cochran outwitted and outplayed the other final players for the title of sole survivor, and of course, one million buckeroos. So, what exactly is the nerdy superfan planning to do with all that prize money? Details inside!

John Cochran, a 25-year-old Harvard law student, managed to outwit everyone this season on Survivor: Caramoan, winning the one million dollar prize last night with a unanimous vote. So, what exactly is Cochran planning on spending all his prize money on? Nothing extravagant, that’s for sure! “It’s going to be a lot of boring stuff. It’s going to be invested, probably a down payment on an apartment, and I’m thinking of a little impulse purchase. Nothing extravagant that I’m going to spend my money on,” Cochran told The Hollywood Reporter after his big win last night.

However, in true nerdy fashion, Cochran did make mention of possibly purchasing a Segway. If you’ve never seen one or heard of it, a Segway is a two-wheeled battery-powered vehicle – for those who like to go green. Cochran was also asked whether he would ever do the show again, and sadly, his answer was no. “I’m aware that I lucked out a lot this time, that a lot of stars aligned, the timing was perfect, everything was great. And I had such a great tine in addition to all that. I really enjoyed it,” Cochran concluded.

What did you think of the Survivor Caramoan finale? Were you rooting for Cochran to take the win? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear from you. Comment below to share your thoughts with us!

I have watched every single episode since Australia and truly love this game. I thought this finale was a little dissappointing in that Jeff didn’t even speak to Erik or Eddie!! They spent time with Rudy from Borneo and Boston Rob (which was cool), but they didn’t even acknowledge the rest of the players who didn’t make the jury, except for Corrine. Was Brandon even there. I was curious about what he had to say about his meltdown.

Can’t wait for the next one!! I think it will be relatives…blood is thicker than water (maybe).

Cochran was my favorite the last time, and I was so happy when he returned for the second time. He was, of course, the one I wanted to win from the beginning. He is very smart, knows the game, and deserved to win. I also think that even though he is perceived as a “nerd”, he’s really a “hunk”!!

You go John Cochran! I rooted for you last season and I rooted for you this season. Malcolm was great, he has the looks and the charisma, but you were the longshot. I wanted to see you win for that reason more than any other and it was great watching you come out of your initial shell. Cochran round 2 was stellar. Great job, and thank you for taking Dawn to the end with you.

I was happy for his win. I am not surprised that Dawn didn’t get a single vote. And I am glad Malcolm won the fan favorite and got $100,000. What I disliked about Dawn was her tactic of using her children to get sympathy and her constant crying and carrying on non-stop throughout the show. I did not like her nasty play. Cochran managed to eliminate rivals without being mean which is why he deserved the win. What Dawn did to people was wrong. I didn’t like her from the start. Phillip while entertaining, was a nut case. Congrats to Cochran and you are not a nerd. You have a certain appeal which will attract a lot of ladies. And I admire your intelligence.
