It’s finally that time, folks! After months of watching, it all comes down to this. Last week, we watched as the top three were narrowed to the final two on American Idol, as Angie Miller was sent packing. Tonight, it’s time for the final performances by Kree Harrison and Candice Glover. How did they do? Details inside!
Wow, right off the bat, Kree Harrison’s fans made their presence known as they were much louder than Candice Glover’s screaming fans – is that a sign of what’s to come tomorrow? Tonight, it was three tunes each for the ladies: Simon Fuller’s choice, their possible winning song, and their own favorite of the season.
Kree Harrison was up first tonight with Simon Fuller’s choice of Angel by Sarah McLachlan. Kree has a beautiful voice, but there was absolutely nothing spectacular about this performance. Blah. And yay, forced silence from the judges – don’t you love it when we aren’t stuck listening to their chatter?
Fuller’s choice for Candice Glover was Adele’s Chasing Pavements. Hmm, never heard the song. Another blah performance in my opinion, but the audience loved it – most of them were on their feet. I sure hope the next set of performances are better.
Ryan asked Mariah and Randy what they thought of the performances, and Mariah was foaming at the mouth about how good the final two are. Meanwhile, Randy was the voice of reason, claiming that the song choices were bad, but favored Candice over Kree. Ryan joked (and confirmed) that Randy is leaving after this season, therefore his opinion doesn’t matter, ha!
Time for the possible winning singles.
Kree Harrison’s song is a tune called All Cried Out. It’s a pretty song, but yet another ballad. It had some high points, and as usual Kree sounded great. But the song itself was no where near as catchy as Phillip Phillips Home from last season.
Candice Glover’s tune is a song called I Am Beautiful. Candice’s song is definitely the better of the two, both performance wise and catchy-wise. Very meaningful with a great message. It’s almost as if this song was written for the winner…hmmm. Standing ovation from the judges – shocking.
Nicki Minaj seems to prefer Candice’s song over Kree’s, while Keith can’t say a bad word about either lady. Did anyone else just see that web headline that Nicki is not returning? Wonder if she’ll announce it soon? Keith gives Kree the win for this round, Nicki gives Candice the win.
Coming Up The Mountain is Kree’s favorite performance of the season, so she takes it on again. She looks amazingly beautiful in a red gown, and her voice is beautiful. She hit the high notes out of the water, and the judges gave her a standing ovation. Randy called it a “winning performance,” while Nicki Minaj loved the richness of it. Keith and Mariah both agreed that it was an awesome performance.
Candice’s choice for favorite song is I Who Have Nothing. Smart choice. It definitely showcased her awesome voice. It was a very strong performance from Candice. It’s definitely a tough one for the viewers tonight. Another standing ovation from the judges. Keith compared the performance to a “planet exploding,” while Nicki called her a “superstar.” Randy called it another “winning performance,” but added that Candice “shot it to a whole nother level.”
What do you think about the finale performances? We know you have an opinion, and we want to hear it! Sound off in the comments section below.
