American Idol Recap: Finale Performances

May 15, 2013 06:02 PM by Lisa Princ

It’s finally that time, folks! After months of watching, it all comes down to this. Last week, we watched as the¬†top three were narrowed to the final two on American Idol, as Angie Miller was sent packing. Tonight, it’s time for the final performances by Kree Harrison and Candice Glover. How did they do? Details inside!

Wow, right off the bat, Kree Harrison’s fans made their presence known as they were much louder than Candice Glover’s screaming fans – is that a sign of what’s to come tomorrow? Tonight, it was three tunes each for the ladies: Simon Fuller’s choice, their possible winning song, and their own favorite of the season.

Kree Harrison was up first tonight with Simon Fuller’s choice of Angel by Sarah McLachlan. Kree has a beautiful voice, but there was absolutely nothing spectacular about this performance. Blah. And yay, forced silence from the judges – don’t you love it when we aren’t stuck listening to their chatter?

Fuller’s choice for Candice Glover was Adele’s Chasing Pavements. Hmm, never heard the song. Another blah performance in my opinion, but the audience loved it – most of them were on their feet. I sure hope the next set of performances are better.

Ryan asked Mariah and Randy what they thought of the performances, and Mariah was foaming at the mouth about how good the final two are. Meanwhile, Randy was the voice of reason, claiming that the song choices were bad, but favored Candice over Kree. Ryan joked (and confirmed) that Randy is leaving after this season, therefore his opinion doesn’t matter, ha!

Time for the possible winning singles.

Kree Harrison’s song is a tune called All Cried Out. It’s a pretty song, but yet another ballad. It had some high points, and as usual Kree sounded great. But the song itself was no where near as catchy as Phillip Phillips Home from last season.

Candice Glover’s tune is a song called I Am Beautiful. Candice’s song is definitely the better of the two, both performance wise and catchy-wise. Very meaningful with a great message. It’s almost as if this song was written for the winner…hmmm. Standing ovation from the judges – shocking.

Nicki Minaj seems to prefer Candice’s song over Kree’s, while Keith can’t say a bad word about either lady. Did anyone else just see that web¬†headline that Nicki is not returning? Wonder if she’ll announce it soon? Keith gives Kree the win for this round, Nicki gives Candice the win.

Coming Up The Mountain is Kree’s favorite performance of the season, so she takes it on again. She looks amazingly beautiful in a red gown, and her voice is beautiful. She hit the high notes out of the water, and the judges gave her a standing ovation. Randy called it a “winning performance,” while Nicki Minaj loved the richness of it. Keith and Mariah both agreed that it was an awesome performance.

Candice’s choice for favorite song is I Who Have Nothing. Smart choice. It definitely showcased her awesome voice. It was a very strong performance from Candice. It’s definitely a tough one for the viewers tonight. Another standing ovation from the judges. Keith compared the performance to a “planet exploding,” while Nicki called her a “superstar.” Randy called it another “winning performance,” but added that Candice “shot it to a whole nother level.”

What do you think about the finale performances? We know you have an opinion, and we want to hear it! Sound off in the comments section below.

Nicki Minaj need to leave the show now .She put a big damper on the last sing off. The are both great singers . They should be treated that way . I have no respect for Nicki Minaj !!!!!!!!!!

Poor Kree ! This show was a lovefest for Candace. While Kree was singing yet another version of ANGEL, Candace was singing ADELE. The producers gave Kree a boring ballad, and Candace was singing I AM BEAUTIFUL with fireworks going off behind her. And finally Kree shined only to have Candace to sing another powerhouse performance. But despite all of that Im predicting Kree will be named the New American Idol!

In my opinion Kree Harrison soon to be a smash single hit song, all cried out, blew Candice song away in round two. Candice song did not have enough meat on it and just sounded like your everyday church girl…The crazy thing is if you noticed all the judges gave Kree a standing ovation but Nicki Manaj… She just sat there blinking her eyes like she was irritated. But she got her big butt up to give Candice a standing ovation. … How rude, but I expected nothing less from this rapper… Honey child, all I can say is enjoy Candice while you can tonite because there is no chance she is going to win this show. Simply because history shows that the majority of viewers are die hard white country fans… This country is country…. Singers like Candice are a dime a dozen… You got to realize what the demographics are that watch AM. They are usually the young female country (white) girls….,,So Naw, Naw, Naw… Whats you finna do!

I always watch American Idol and admire all who can reach the Finale but disappointed with the announced winner! As if the judges many times conscious or unconsciously give hints of their favored favorite its a little bit irritating. But anyway they are still lovable and enjoyable..I like American Idol especially with Jessica Sanchez!

I HAVE WATCHED AMERICAN IDOL SINCE KELLY CLARKSON AND JUSTIN. I EVEN AS MUCH WENT BACK TO MY HOTEL ROOM IN LAS VEGAS TO WATCH THE FINALLY WITH TAYLOR HICKS EVEN THOUGH THE COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS WERE AT MGM. I THINK RANDY AND KEITH URBAN WERE FABULOUS JUDGES, THE 2 PHONIES CAN GO TONIGHT. NICKI WANTS ALL OF THEM TO BE MARSHMELLOWS SO SHE CAN EAT THEM, AND MARIAH IS RUDE, WHEN SHE TOLD LAROUS HE GOT SYMPATHY VOTES I WAS DONE WITH HER. WHERE IS SIMON AND PAULA, WE NEED THEM. I HEARD THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE JUSTIN BIEBER BE A JUDGE MISTAKE, I THINK I WILL HAVE TO STOP WATCHING AS HE HAS NO TALENT JUST A SPOILED BRAT

I agree with the other comments. Kree’s voice is memorable and although Candice is a wonderful singer, she has not know shown what kind of artist she wants to be. She sings with her gospel church background, and if that is the artist she wants to be kudos to her.
Kree is a artist who KNOWS who she is & never strays from her choice. The judges appeared very bias through the top 12. The judges need to remember Karma….
Mariah, Nice wishful thinking you are some prim & proper ladie with all of your fake words especially “darling”. Also the obvious lip singing at the finale…Idol was obvious so desperate to pick you & Nicki for judges knowing the jerks you made of yourself.
Candice your a great gal, but I don’t think you would want to win with help from the powers that be!
KREE YOU ARE A SUPER STAR & WILL CONTINUE ON A AWSOME CAREER BECAUSE YOU HAVE ALREADY PROVED YOURSELF. GO KREE!!!!!!
