With Randy Jackson finally ready to leave American Idol, it looks like Ryan Seacrest is all that remains of the original crew from season one. And understandably, Ryan’s not all that happy to see his buddy call it quits.
Randy Jackson has stuck with American Idol through thick and thin, but with season twelve about to draw to a close, the longtime judge is ready to go his own way. And with Randy ditching the reality singing competition, Ryan Seacrest can truly call himself the only original left on the Idol stage.
It can’t be easy to for Ryan to see his friend leave after sharing so many ups and downs on the first big reality competition — and the host is quick to acknowledge this unfortunate fact. He recently told E! News, “I was sad to hear that my buddy Randy is going to go.” That being said, Ryan would be happy to see Randy return in the future, which is why he promised, “From my point of view, Randy, the door’s always open for you to come back home.”
It’s definitely been confirmed that Randy Jackson is finished with American Idol, but we have yet to learn the fates of the rest of the current judging panel. The latest gossip suggest that the entire panel will be replaced in time for season thirteen, but it’s impossible to know for sure whether there’s any truth to that rumor. For now, we do know that Nicki Minaj has voiced her desire to return, but with many accusing the rapper-singer of destroying the show, it’s hard to say if Idol will actually invite her back.
