Last night, Healing In The Heartland, a benefit concert for those impacted by last week’s tornado in Oklahoma, took place in Oklahoma city. Many different artists took the stage to perform, but one that seemed to stand out to viewers was none other than The Voice‘s guest star, and Country superstar, Miranda Lambert. In a very emotional performance, Lambert was so choked up with tears at one point, that she couldn’t even sing!
The tornado that ripped through Moore, Oklahoma last week struck close to home with many Country music stars, and Miranda Lambert was no exception. During the Healing In The Heartland benefit concert last night, Miranda took the stage with a performance of The House That Built Me, but it didn’t seem to go as she planned. Lambert choked back the tears during her performance, and when she hit the verse, “Mama cut out pictures of houses,” the tears really took over, leaving Lambert unable to finish the verse.
After turning the microphone to the crowd to finish the verse for her, Miranda took a moment to compose herself so she could finish the emotional song. When her performance was over, Miranda apologized to the crowd, and finished with a big, “I love you Oklahoma.” It’s certainly no wonder that Lambert got choked up since that verse from her song is all about a family building their dream home from scratch, which is exactly what some of the tornado victims lost last week.
Joining Miranda last night was her husband, Blake Shelton, as well as other artists such as: Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Ryan Tedder, Darius Rucker, Usher, Rascal Flatts and Luke Bryan.
Did you watch the benefit concert last night? What did you think of Miranda Lambert’s tear filled performance? Post a comment and let us know what you think!
