Demi Lovato has had her struggles over the years, including a strained relationship with her father. But despite such tensions, she knew her father loved her, which made his recent death all the more difficult. Fortunately, the X Factor judge has the support of her legions of fans — and she’s definitely grateful, as she made clear in a recent tweet.
No matter how glamorous their lives may seem, celebrities are people too, and thus are forced to deal with some of the tragedies the rest of us face. For Demi, this has meant an eating disorder, bipolar disorder, and most recently, the death of her father, Patrick Lovato. Demi’s dad had been suffering from cancer for several years and finally succumbed the past week.
After the sad news broke, Demi Lovato’s fans (otherwise referred to as the Lovatics) did their best to make the celeb feel better, sending her plenty of sympathy tweets so that she would know she was in fans’ thoughts and prayers. Even the notoriously gruff Simon Cowell shared a few kind words, tweeting, “My thoughts are with you Demi.”
Demi Lovato took a bit of a break from her usual duties, skipping out on filming for The X Factor and setting aside all her fan mail so that she could properly grieve. But that’s not to say she’s completely ignored all her fans. After a period of social media silence, Demi logged on to Twitter to say, “I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers. God bless you all, thank you so much.”
We’re sure this is a difficult time for Demi Lovato and her family — we are keeping Patrick Lovato’s loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.
