The fallout from a recent racism controversy has proven financially devastating for former Food Network star Paula Deen. Dropped by everyone from Caesars Entertainment to Target, Paula has miraculously managed to hang onto a number of endorsements, including those for Alice Travel and Tasty Blend Foods.
The chaos surrounding Paula Deen is viewed as quite the PR debacle for many a corporate leader, which is the easiest explanation for why the celebrity chef has lost so many endorsements in the last few days. But a few companies are choosing to stick with Paula through thick and thin, even going so far as to sending letters of support to a celeb who has experienced such a catastrophic fall from grace.
Alice Travel may not be Paula Deen’s biggest or most profitable endorsement deal, but it is proving valuable at the moment, what with its continued support of the celebrity. Not only has Alice Travel chosen to stand by Paula during this difficult time, it recently announced that it would be adding an additional Paula Deen cruise for 2014. This may have less to do with personal beliefs at the company and more to do with the potential for impressive profits; apparently, interest in Paula Deen cruises has surged in the aftermath of the controversy.
Tasty Blend Foods will also be continuing its contract with Paula Deen. In a recent letter, leaders at the company revealed their sympathy for the jilted celebrity chef, explaining, “We are very saddened that she is being judged by her past, everyone has made a mistake sometime in their lives.”
