Jennifer Hudson is currently receiving plenty of praise for her rendition of Silent Night in the upcoming film Black Nativity. But the American Idol alum also deserves recognition for her good works — and she will receive just that at the 2013 Do Something Awards!
Today’s most popular celebrities offer plenty in the way of entertainment, but their contributions are not just limited to music and movies. Many are also dedicated to philanthropy, providing funding for prominent charities and engaging in wide array of other good works.
Jennifer Hudson is the perfect example of a philanthropic celebrity, given her extensive support for such causes as the American Foundation for AIDS Research and the Rainforest Foundation. Later this month, the singer will be recognized for her efforts at the 2013 Do Something Awards. Her nomination is the result of her hard work with the Julian D. King Foundation. Created by Jennifer and her sister in the aftermath of her nephew’s death, the Julian D. King Foundation supports efforts to improve healthcare and education for children.
Although she genuinely enjoys helping others, Jennifer Hudson also feels an obligation to use her fame to make the world a better place. As she explained to Look To The Stars last year, “I feel like your celebrity is not about the fortune or the fame. But if you can’t help anyone then it’s in vain, it’s pointless.”
It’s wonderful to see a talented celeb using her musical accomplishments to help those less fortunate! Jennifer Hudson deserves every bit of recognition she garners during this year’s Do Something Awards — and we’re sure she’ll receive plenty!
