Earlier this year, Shakira was slapped with a $100 million lawsuit by her ex, who she believes was just trying to cash in on her fame. And it looks like a judge agrees with The Voice mentor, as a request to gain access to the megastar’s bank account was recently denied!
Earlier this year, Shakira was slapped with a $100 million lawsuit by her ex-boyfriend, Antonio de la Rua, who claimed that during their 10 year relationship, he was also Shakira’s manager, earning some lucrative deals for her. Because of this, de la Rua felt he was entitled to be compensated – heavily.
Just last month, de la Rua even went as far as to ask the judge to grant him access to one of Shakira’s bank accounts, claiming that the pair had an oral agreement to work professionally after their romantic split in 2011, yet she never paid him a dime. Antonio also claimed that most of the assets from their business partnership were in that account.
The judge, however, did not buy de la Rua’s claims and he denied the request to access the megastar’s bank account. The judge ruled that there was not enough evidence that the pair had reached any type of oral agreement, and there certainly was no written agreement.
This is a big victory in the legal battle that Shakira has been facing with de la Rua. You go girl!
