Lamar Odom Close To Signing A Deal With The Lakers

July 09, 2013 10:35 AM by Lisa Princ

Yesterday we learned that Lamar Odom may be returning to the Los Angeles Lakers after being traded back in 2011. Now, rumor has it that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is close to signing a new deal to head back there!

It’s been a busy two years for Lamar Odom and his NBA career. Back in 2011, Odom was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to The Dallas Mavericks, where he proved to be unhappy, but was then traded to the Clippers. Yesterday, it was reported that the Lakers were looking to get Odom back, and now it appears that a deal may be in the works!

One source close to the situation told US Weekly recently that Lamar is close to inking a new deal with the Lakers, adding: “Lamar is thrilled and always loved being a Laker. He was really sad when they traded him.”

While Lamar Odom’s unhappiness was obvious during his stint on the other teams, he is not going to be making what he was before. The source went on to say that while Odom will be making less, “the Lakers realized they needed him.” Hmm, if they really need him, then they certainly should be able to pay him enough.

It’s time for you to sound off! Do you think that Lamar Odom should head back to the Los Angeles Lakers? Or is it time for him to give up basketball? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it. Comment below to share your thoughts with us!

Reality TV needs to look at the collective bargaining agreement and salary cap limitations and they would understand why Odom can only be paid the veteran minimum. Only Lamar knows if he really wants to play basketball. If he does, he should finish his career as a Laker. It is not about money. He has enough.

This will be a good move for Lamar even if it was for less money. Time for him to give back to LA and possibly revive his career in entertainment. Angelenos knows how to appreciate a sacrifice.

I am number one fan of Lamar Odom. He is my son, cause I don’t have a son. He shouldn’t have been traded on the first place from Lakers. I followed him where ever he goes. To bring him back, he should get paid more than what he deserve. Lakers really mess him up by trading him to Dallas. I want him to be happy and think hard before he makes any decision. We Love you Lamar. You are son which I don’t have one. God Bless You. Just Be Happy. Momma

Saying that they should pay him more is coming from a place where whoever said it is not familiar with the Lakers and the NBA salary cap and luxury tax. They would be able to give a one year deal and then consider a raise in his salary next year, but not for this year. The Lakers have little room to sign anyone except for the veteran’s minimum this year. Next year they will have cap space as only Steve Nash will be under contract, as it stands now.
