As the season 15 contestants gear up to do battle with their weight on The Biggest Loser, one former contestant is facing a battle of her own, but it’s the legal kind. Fan favorite, Tara Costa has been hit with a lawsuit over her alleged weight gain!
Tara Costa quickly became a fan favorite a few years when she lost 155 pounds on The Biggest Loser, where she came very close to winning her season. Since her stint on the show, Costa has competed in an Ironman triathlon, as well as made a few guest appearances on the show to give inspiration to new contestants. So, why would we believe that such a hard worker would have gained any weight back?
Well, according to a lawsuit filed against Costa, she has gained about 45 pounds back. Costa had signed on to promote ilovekickboxing.com, a rep for the company told Newsday recently: “She came on at a certain weight. We had a fitness clause. She was in material breach after she gained, in my opinion, about 45 pounds,” adding that due to the weight gain: “She was supposed to visit 15 of our franchise locations, but we weren’t able to send her anywhere.”
Tara Costa, however, claims that none of this true. In fact, she even Tweeted recently explaining that at the time the company claims she gained the weight, she was actually in the best shape of her life. Costa is actually countersuing, claiming that the company breached their contract, as well as exploited her name and image with no compensation.
It should be interesting to see how this one plays out, don’t you think?
