The world is grieving for Cory Monteith in the aftermath of his shocking death. The Glee Project mentor was only 31 years old and had a bright future ahead of him. And according to So You Think You Can Dance judge Adam Shankman, he seemed perfectly fine just hours before he died.
Like Lea Michele and many, many others, Adam Shankman is in mourning for his good friend and fellow celebrity Cory Monteith. The SYTYCD judge says that the tragedy was entirely unexpected, even in spite of Cory’s recent battle with drug addiction. Adam says that he had spoken with Cory not long before he died, and at that time, Cory said he was doing “wonderful,” and was even planning on traveling to California to jet ski. Given this conversation and his longtime admiration of Cory, it’s only understandable that Adam was left “devastated and confused” by news of his friend’s death.
Like many, Adam Shankman only had good things to say about Cory Monteith and his short-lived acting career. Adam directed several episodes of Glee and says he was left in awe of Cory’s willingness to reach out and help anyone and everyone on set. “He showed up every day and he was a delight.” Because of these positive qualities, Adam believes that Cory was the “glue” of Glee, and largely responsible for its remarkable success.
Following his interview with CNN, Adam took to Twitter to express his grief, tweeting, “Goodbye my amazing and beautiful friend….The world just lost one of our best.”
