We love the adorable Carly Rae Jepsen…but in the future, the American Idol guest might want to stick to music. Or at least spend more timing warming up before she hits the baseball field. Her first pitch for a recent Rays game was simultaneously painful and hilarious.
Poor Carly Rae. She has pretty good pitch when it comes to music, but in baseball? That’s a different story. The singer recently stopped by a Tampa Bay Rays game to throw what is now being described as the worst first pitch in the team’s history. Barely airborne in the first place, the unfortunate pitch ended with the ball crashing into a camera.
She may have had a disastrous first pitch, but don’t be too quick to dismiss the celeb as an awful athlete. According to one commentator, Carly Rae actually displayed a decent arm as she was preparing to take the field. “We saw her warming up and she was giving strike after strike…She just held on to it a little bit too long right there.”
Fortunately, Carly Rae Jepsen is a good sport and more than willing to poke fun at herself in the aftermath of the baseball disaster. She has since posted pictures of the debacle on Instagram and tweeted, “So apparently I made ESPN with my fail of a pitch. Lol- Daddy must be so proud.” The singer also shared a conversation in which her brother advised her to stick to her day job. Not bad advice.
