Anthony Weiner’s sexting scandals (yes, we’ve made it to plural tense now) always make for great comedy, but CMT’s Next Superstar judge Kristin Chenoweth went above and beyond with a Popular parody she crafted with the sole intent of commemorating the second installation of Weinergate.
You have to love Kristin Chenoweth, for, not only is she an incredibly talented singer, she also has quite the sense of humor. The actress proved it during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, when she showed off a complete rewrite of the Wicked hit song Popular.
Last night’s version version of the musical favorite featured Kristin’s recommendations for Anthony Weiner in the aftermath of yet another sexting scandal. The singer expressed her understanding of the fact that, unlike Wicked counterpart Alfie, Weiner was already in the public eye. But she also shared her belief that, with a little effort, the politician could become “the right kind of popular.”
Of course, that would require quite the social media makeover, but it would be a project worth pursuing. After all, Kristin Chenoweth promised she could “teach you to zip your fly, you won’t be that guy with a camera down his pants.” And once her course in popularity is over, the singer says that, “They’ll think you’ve become a monk, though they’ve seen your junk. Now you’ll play a different show!”
Also included in the new version of Popular were a few words of advice for Anthony Weiner’s wife Huma Abedin. “She should take a page from Hillary, and become independent of her hubbie while you sport a chatroom chubby”
