Dancing With The Stars fans are in luck, for Derek Hough is definitely returning for season 17…and he might be accompanied by bad boy Maks Chmerkovkiy. And Maks’ softer-hearted brother Val? He’s just getting started on his DWTS career!
As much as we missed Maks during season 16 of Dancing With The Stars, we were glad to see that ABC was at least kind enough to leave one Chmerkovskiy on the show. Val doesn’t have quite the same fan base as his brother, but he’s still a favorite among the show’s most dedicated viewers. And now that he’s been dancing alongside the likes of Derek Hough and Cheryl Burke for several season, Val is starting to feel very comfortable with dancing on live television.
That increased comfort is starting to show, both in Val’s demeanor and in his results. Not even cracking the top ten in early seasons, Val has now managed to take a third place during the all-star edition and runner-up for season 16. He tells iDesign, “It definitely helps that I’ve been getting more in tune with the format and more familiar with the show.” But modest as ever, Val offers most of the credit for his success to such celebrity partners as Aly Raisman and Kelly Monaco. “I’ve been getting great partners, so I can’t complain.”
No word yet from Val on whether rumors about his brother returning to Dancing With The Stars are true. Knowing how tight-lipped the DWTS producers tend to be, Val probably is as clueless about his brother’s casting status as the rest of us.
