We can’t say that we did not see this one coming! Robin Thicke‘s mega hit of the summer, Blurred Lines, has been topping the charts for weeks now, despite the controversy surrounding the dance tune. And now it appears that Thicke’s hard work has finally paid off as the Duets judge has just scored his first number one album!
Blurred Lines has deemed the “song of the summer” by many, as well as gotten criticized for its “rapey” lyrics by others. But whether you love it or hate it, you can’t deny that it has become a massive hit. And with his first huge hit, Robin Thicke has scored another first – his first number one album! Yes, it may have taken him over ten years and six albums, but Robin Thicke has finally watched his hard work pay off as Blurred Lines made its debut hitting Billboard 200′s top spot with 177,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen.
Selling 177,000 copies may not seem like much, but for Robin Thicke, it’s the single best sales week he has ever had! His previous best was with his 2008 debut of Something Else, which landed at number three with 137,000 sales. Robin’s very first album, A Beautiful World, made its debut back in April 2003, and spent one week on the charts at number 152. Obviously, Thicke has done something right this time – and it only took him a decade to do it!
Now, it is your turn to sound off! Do you love Blurred Lines? Or do you feel that the hype is undeserved? Will you be purchasing the album? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear from you. Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
