Following a desperate attempt to revive her in the hospital, we’re sorry to say that former Bachelor and Bachelor Pad contestant Gia Allemand has been pronounced dead. The cause of death appears to be a suicide attempt, meaning that, once again, a promising young star has left this world far too soon.
Although she ultimately proved unsuccessful in her bid for romance with hunky pilot Jake Pavelka, popular Bachelor contestant appeared to have since found satisfaction in a budding television career, plus a loving relationship with New Orleans Pelicans athlete Ryan Anderson. But the reality star must have been struggling with personal demons of some sort in the days and weeks leading up to her tragic suicide.
This entire ordeal must be particularly horrific for Gia’s boyfriend, especially given the fact that he was the first to stumble upon her nearly lifeless body. According to a statement from the celeb’s family, “While in her residency in New Orleans on Monday night, [Gia Allemand] was found by her boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson, following an apparent suicide attempt.”
Upon this frightening discovery, Gia was rushed to New Orleans’ University Hospital, where she was immediately put on life support. Unfortunately, efforts to revive the reality star ultimately proved unsuccessful. As the statement from Gia’s family explains, “Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today.”
If there’s any small consolation in this tragic tale, it’s that Gia was surrounded by loved ones at the moment of her death. According to the official statement, Gia “passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites.”
We are keeping Gia Allemand’s family, friends and boyfriend in our thoughts as they begin the difficult grieving process. Feel free to share your best wishes or any special memories of Gia in the comments section below.
