Dancing With The Stars without Kym Johnson? We’re not sure we approve of that idea! Unfortunately, the show’s cast is not up to us, so it is with regret that we announce that the talented dancer will be on hiatus for the show’s 17th season. Kym recently told Us Weekly that she had been courted for an outside performing opportunity, and, although with difficulty, had ultimately decided to take a break from DWTS. “I will be taking the next season off from DWTS USA, so that I may accept an amazing work opportunity back home in Australia.”
Kym was not quite ready to share additional details about this new “opportunity,” although, with the way she referred to the show as “DWTS USA,” we have to wonder if her latest pursuit will involve the Australian version of the reality show. Perhaps she’s joining Dancing With The Stars Australia as a judge?
This is all speculation, mind you. But we do know that Kym is not ditching the American edition of Dancing With The Stars for good. She told Us Weekly that she “[hopes] to see you all back on the dance floor for season 18.” And she’ll continue to cheer on her fellow pros from afar, adding that she wishes “all the dancers and celebrities in season 17 nothing but love and success.”
Will you miss Kym Johnson? Any ideas as to the reasoning behind her departure? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below!
