Robin Thicke Admits To Being ‘Frustrated And Depressed’ Prior To ‘Blurred Lines’

August 20, 2013 12:45 PM by Lisa Princ

After 10 years in music, Robin Thicke has finally gotten a massive hit with Blurred Lines. However, because it took him so long, it’s no wonder that the Duets judge admitted he was “frustrated and depressed,” prior to his smash hit!

Blurred Lines has remained at the the top of the charts for months now, and in its debut week, Robin Thicke’s album hit the number one spot in sales as well. So, who would have ever thought of Robin Thicke as depressed? It’s true. The singer admitted in a new interview recently with the Times Magazine that he was depressed and frustrated prior to the hit because: “I’d cost my label more than I’d made them up until now.”

Honestly, after 10 years of trying to get it right and not having much success, it definitely has to be depressing. And it was so depressing that Thicke turned to alcohol and drugs to help him cope. And that led to bigger problems as he was drinking while he writing, Thicke explained, adding: “I was thinking that I was being creative. But nah, I was just being drunk.”

Luckily for Robin Thicke (as well as fans) he was able to get his act together and quit the drugs and alcohol, which is exactly when he was able to put together his huge hit album, Blurred Lines.

Now, it is your turn to sound off! Do you love Blurred Lines? Or do you feel that the hype is undeserved? Will you be purchasing the album? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear from you. Share your thoughts in the comments section below!

I think Blurred Lines is a horrible song; it’s the same line (no pun intended) over and over again. I think some of his other songs like “Love After War” are way better!

Tune makes me happy enough to dance. So I try to ignore the lyrics. Sad. (Not in a good way in a sadistic way) Yuck.
