Turns out, Joey Fatone was telling lies after all. The Dancing With The Stars alum told TMZ that there was no way he’d be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards. And yet, guess who was up on stage for a sweet rendition of Bye Bye Bye? That’s right, Joey and all his ‘N Sync buddies.
It was a big night for Justin Timberlake. The boy band legend managed to snag the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. Presented to him by good friend Jimmy Fallon, Justin was then highlighted as being the ultimate legend during the “two decades he’s been entertaining us.” Jimmy then continued the praise by mentioning a few of Justin’s greater achievements: “I’m talking ‘N Sync… I’m talking solo albums. I’m talking hit after hit after hit after hit.”
But although he’s achieved all this, Justin says he couldn’t have done it without the other members of ‘N Sync. “Half of the Moon Men that I’ve ever won I won with those four guys right there. So, above all else, we can keep this at my house but I’m going share this award with them.”
It was exciting to see Justin win an award he clearly deserved, but even better was the brief reunion of the dream team, better known as ‘N Sync. They came together to perform Girlfriend and Bye Bye Bye, and, of course killed it as per the usual. Afterwards, Justin went on to perform more recent hits, including Mirrors and Suit and Tie.
The Justin Timberlake featurette also included several of the singer’s other hits…but most fans agreed that the ‘N Sync hits were their favorites. Check ‘em out in the video we’ve posted below…and when you’re done, tell us what you think!
