These past several years, Faith Hill has presided over each NFL Sunday with her rendition of Waitin’ All Day For Sunday Night. But that’s all about to change, as American Idol alum Carrie Underwood has signed on to be the new voice of Sunday Night Football.
The NFL pre-season is almost over (finally!) which means the official football season is about to begin! With it comes a brand new Sunday Night Football theme, courtesy of the lovely Carrie Underwood. Like predecessor Faith Hill, Carrie will be singing Waitin’ All Day For Sunday Night, although, of course, the musician is sure to bring her own flair to the production. This marks the first time Carrie has worked with NBC Sports, but we doubt she’ll disappoint.
Carrie Underwood’s beautiful voice would be enough to make the Sunday Night Football theme worth a listen, but that’s not all this opener will include. Thirteen top NFL athletes have joined in for a filmed football extravaganza. These include Eli and Peyton Manning, as well as Clay Matthews, Terrell Suggs, Patrick Willis and Calvin Johnson, among others.
The new Carrie Underwood version of the NFL Sunday theme song will debut on September 8th, during a matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. If you’re not a football fan, at least tune in for the vocal talents of your favorite American Idol alum!
Do you think Carrie Underwood makes a choice for the Sunday Night Football theme? Or were you already happy with Faith Hill’s version of Waitin’ All Day For Sunday Night? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments section below!
