Shania Twain Returns To The Recording Studio

August 29, 2013 07:39 AM by Stephanie Gustafson

Fans of Shania Twain will be thrilled to learn that the former American Idol guest judge and mentor is busy preparing for the release of a brand new album! The country crooner says she already has several tracks lined up…and more on the way!

Shania Twain is anxious to put together a new record. But first, she’s on the hunt for a new producer! The singer recently told Rolling Stone, “I’m pretty much there with my songs, I’m really just sitting on the fence in regards to a producer. So I’m listening to a lot of records, doing my homework there, and trying to determine who is the right match.”

Until a producer has been named, it’ll be hard to know exactly what to expect from Shania Twain’s new album. But don’t get too comfortable with that old Up! CD. Based on her latest music interests, Shania just might be ready to change up her vocal style. She says she’s been listening to a ton of Lana Del Rey as of late, as she’s ”kind of stuck on the sound of that record.” Other influences include Alison Krauss and Robert Plant.

With such a wide range of inspirations, Shania acknowledges that narrowing down the focus might be a difficult. She admits that it’s obvious “how lost I am as far as production direction, because I’m listening to such a broad spectrum.” That being said, she says fans can expect a darker sound on the new album. “There are probably less upbeat songs. I would say it’s more half and half compared to what I’ve done in the past, where I would’ve learned more towards mostly uptempo songs.”

i’m an award winning Country singer/song writer, X Country DJ at 12 stations over the years, including 50,000 watt clear channel KYAK, in Anchorage, Alaska.
Recently moved to Vegas after a very successful 25 years in Bakersfield, CA, better known as: “Nashville West”. I like doing a solo, however, in one year, I played rhythm guitar and sang harmony for seven, 45 minute sets of open mic nite. Backed Merle’s son Noel, backed Bonnie Owens years ago, Merle’s and Buck’s X wife. (nicest, sweetest person I’ve met)
Played 450, 45 minute sets in one year at the world famous “Trouts” Country Night Club sitting in with “The Blackboard Playboys” for free as the keyboard player was Mark Yeary, who played with Merle for 20 years, and produced his first two albums.
I was as happy as pig in mud on a hot 4th of July day.
I’d like to offer her my original songs, along with hers, as I love her writing. I’d also like to record and produce them and let her choose the songs to record or play live.
I’d also like to produce a segment of her live show with a very simple acoustic set.

I forgot, you love Dolly Parton, and I saw you on tv with Dolly, when you were singing “A Coat Of Many Colors”, you were so moved to tears, I also had wet eyes.
Dolly worshiped Rose Maddox and oddly, I played guitar behind Rose and her brother Fred.
(see the web site for pictures)
I lived next door to Fred Maddox, in Delano, CA for four years and played guitar behind him on many occasions. (see the PBS documentary: “The Bakersfield Sound”)shot partly at the KCHJ Radio studio in Delano where I was the DJ and producer of our live singer/songwriter hour on Fridays.

I have seen Shania Twain in American Idol Show as a guest judge. Even, I also like to listen her music. It might be very exciting for me and her all fans to listen her new albums again.
