Snooki — the reality star people want to….smell like? Apparently, the Jersey Shore star’s scent is in high demand, as it’s been ripped off by a rival perfume company. And now, she’s out for blood, suing them to the tune of $2.4 million.
Often, celebrity perfumes have little to do with the celebrity in question, other than having that individual’s name slapped on the label. But this is certainly not the case for Snooki, who, in an earlier interview claimed, “When I had a chance to do perfume, I thought, I love smelling good…All products that have my name on them, I’m involved with them 100 percent. I’m involved in the perfume and what it smells like.”
So, because Snooki’s perfume is actually the result of Snooki’s input, it stand to reason that the celeb doesn’t want to see ripoffs on the market. But ripoffs do exist, as is made explicitly clear on the bottle of copy-cat scent “Snazzy.” After all, the label claims that the perfume is “our version of Snooki by Nicole Polizzi.”
Developed by Excell Brands in New Jersey, this scent is incredibly thorough in its ripping off of Snooki’s perfume. The packaging is covered in animal print, as is also the case in the Snooki brand. And although the company was unable to use Snooki’s picture on the label, it did offer up a picture of a woman donning the exact same hairstyle, red lips and seductive gaze.
TMZ reports that Snooki has sued Excell Brands for $2.4 in damages. Additionally, she wants a court order demanding that the company stop selling its ripoff perfume immediately.
