We recently heard rumors that Jennifer Lopez would be coming back to the American Idol judging panel, along with reports that Harry Connick Jr. was in negotiations for a judging spot. Now, American Idol has put all the rumors to rest, finally!
It seems as though American Idol producers listened to the fans, as viewers seemed to take a liking to Harry Connick Jr. during his past stints on the show, because Connick Jr. has been officially named as one of the season 13 judges! “I am honored that they’ve asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way,” Harry Connick Jr. said in a statement after FOX made the announcement.
The network also announced that Jennifer Lopez is coming back to the panel for the new season, and as we already knew, Keith Urban will return. Urban also shared his excitement, telling the media: “I think this season of Idol is going to be a blast. New team, new energy, and a whole new field of artists to be discovered and given a chance!”
Meanwhile, Randy Jackson, who stepped down from his judging chair after the season finale, is also coming back as an in-house mentor. And of course, everyone’s favorite host, Ryan Seacrest will be back to humor us, and poke fun at the judges.
