Jacoby Jones Injures Knee In NFL Opener

September 06, 2013 02:12 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

Jacoby Jones made it through Dancing With The Stars without significant injury, which, as regular viewers understand, is a way more difficult prospect than any athletic contestant could predict. But sadly, last night’s NFL opener has him in recovery from a very unfortunate knee injury. What happened?

Last night’s NFL kickoff marked a very unfortunate start to the season for the Baltimore Ravens. Not only did the team sustain a devastating 49-27 loss, it also was forced to put one of its best players on hiatus for the foreseeable future. Jacoby Jones ended the game with a knee injury, the result not of a move by the Denver Broncos, but rather a collision with one of his own Ravens teammates. Just as he was preparing to field a punt, Jacoby found himself slammed into by Brynden Trawick. His knee appears to have hyper-extended during the incident, likely leaving the athlete in quite a bit of pain. After the collision, a frustrated Jacoby Jones threw down his helmet and headed for the locker rooms.

We can’t speak yet as to how long Jacoby will be out of commission or how badly his absence will impact the Ravens. But it certainly will not bode well for a team that has already suffered quite the blow at the beginning of the season. Already, experts are suggesting that Jacoby will be out for the rest of the season, leaving the Ravens forced to regroup and make do with likely replacement Marion Brown.
