Keith Urban Kicks Off NFL Season In Baltimore

September 06, 2013 08:59 AM by Stephanie Gustafson

Last night was a definite bummer for Baltimore Ravens fans. Not only did the football team’s first game of the year result in a crushing defeat at the hands of the Broncos, it took place in Denver. But fans were still determined to cheer on the Ravens, as they did with the help of American Idol judge Keith Urban.

He’s admitted to being a Tennessee Titans fan, but Keith Urban was still determined to help Baltimore Ravens supporters celebrate the start of the NFL season during last night’s opener. The country crooner’s presence was greatly appreciated by the tens of thousands of fans who showed up for the kickoff concert, particularly in light of the Ravens’ very first game of the season taking place in Denver. Disappointed fans were at least able to drown their sorrows in such hits as Long Hot Summer.

Although the Ravens supporters were not  quite as enthusiastic as attendees of, say, a regular Keith Urban concert, they did seem to take well to many of the newer tracks performed last night. And more dedicated country fans watching the broadcast on television showed clear enthusiasm on Twitter and Facebook. This big performance could not have arrived at a better time, for Keith’s new album is set to hit stores next Tuesday. The combined publicity from this NFL gig and his upcoming return to American Idol should give the album a nice boost.

A SNOOZER. It was like Bad Rock with a country twang. At least make your set interesting. It was mediocre and boring.
