Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball Beats Vevo Record

September 10, 2013 09:56 AM by Stephanie Gustafson

Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball video has yet to hit the 24 hour mark…and it’s already managed to shatter the Vevo record for most views in a single day. Clearly, the American Idol mentor’s ploy to attract attention through nudity has worked, as we all knew it would.

Have you seen Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball music video? If so, your page view is joined by well over 16 million others — and counting! The singer effortlessly shattered the Vevo record recently set by One Direction, meaning that the title Best Song Ever may no longer be appropriate. This previous record involved a paltry 12.3 million views in 24 hours. Miley, by comparison, was able to reach that level in just 13 hours. She was surely helped along both by rumors (which turned out to be true) of music video nudity, not to mention her controversial performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

Miley knows that her behavior is attracting attention and she’s mighty proud of that fact. She made a point of sharing her Wrecking Ball achievements this morning, tweeting, “Wrecking Ball has officially beat the @VEVO record. Thank you smilerzzzzz.” The celeb also re-tweeted the following post from her fan page: “Wrecking Ball now holds the record for the most views in 24 hours, and 24 hours isn’t even up yet! 15 mill views so far!”

As long as we continue to give Miley Cyrus the attention she seeks, she’ll continue to produce super controversial material. So hold on to your hats and get ready for more twerking!
