America’s Got Talent: Catapult Entertainment Sent Home In Shocking Elimination

September 12, 2013 12:30 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

Last night, fans of Catapult Entertainment were saddened to see their favorite act axed from America’s Got Talent shortly before the final round. How did judges Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Mel B and Heidi Klum respond to the shocking elimination?

For once, we can’t blame an undeserved America’s Got Talent elimination on the judges. For the semi-finals, the results were completely dependent on America’s vote. And this week, America decided that Catapult Entertainment was unworthy of the final round. Instead, the six acts to advance included Kenichi Ebina, Forte, Collins Key, Jimmy Rose, Cami Bradley and Taylor Williamson. While all of these finalists are brilliant in their own way, many fans have complained that the finals lineup is way too heavy on the musical acts. Singers are great, but part of the appeal of America’s Got Talent lies in its ability to break up the monotony of continued singers with the brilliance of, say, a group of shadow dancers.

No matter what, last night’s elimination would have proven disappointing. After all, the other act in danger of elimination was Collins Key, a magician that has proven his ability to delight again and again. That being said, the judges were definitely bummed about the voting results. Howard Stern had repeatedly voiced his love for Catapult’s original and thought-provoking work, once explaining, “You are an important act. There is no way I can say no to you.” And the other judges clearly agreed, offering only a lukewarm response to Collins Key, a far cry from their standing ovation for the performers of Catapult Entertainment.

What do you think — did Catapult Entertainment deserve a spot in the finale? Sound off in the comments section below!

Can’t believe my favorite act of ALL TIME was sent home and the magician and the comedian are still there.
    What were the voters thinking?
Or was it perhaps, people didn’t concentrate their votes on Catapult because they wrongly considered them a shoe-in?
Either way terribly disappointing , leaving me only interested in watching to see Kenishi.

At this stage of the competition, all the acts have talent. But I personally could only imagine paying to take my wife & kids to see 3 of these acts for an hour in Vegas – Catapult Entertainment, Kenichi Ebina and Collins Key. And I personally had Catapult pegged to win the whole thing, so their elimination was a huge mistake in my opinion. They should get tons of offers with or without AGT, but it’s really sad when voting comes down to a popularity contest every year instead of pure talent and entertainment value.
