The Arsenio Hall Show Makes A Strong Late Night Television Return

September 12, 2013 09:06 AM by Lisa Princ

This week, Arsenio Hall made his way back to late night television with the return of The Arsenio Hall Show. While Arsenio still seems to be stuck in the 90′s, the numbers are in and the Celebrity Apprentice winner’s return to late night television looks like it was a good decision!

Arsenio Hall made his return to late night television this week, and while Arsenio seemed to be stuck in the 1990′s (we need to give him a chance to get with the times), the return seemed to be a huge success – at least so far. According to the official Nielsen ratings, The Arsenio Hall Show debuted with an 1.9 HH rating/4 share, nearly doubling its time period average. Arsenio was #1 in adults 25-54 with a 1.2/5, and also #1 in adults 18-49 with a 1.0/4, ahead of all other late-night broadcast shows. Day two of the show fell slightly, but still beat out the competitors.

The return of The Arsenio Hall Show kicked off Monday evening, and proved that Hall’s easy going manner, sense of humor and impressive hosting skills were still there. The return included a skit by Hall pretending to talk about his hopes for the show, when Jay Leno popped up and said: “Yeah, good luck with that.” Guests included Chris Tucker, Snoop Dog aka Snoop Lion, and Paula Abdul, but Hall seemed to keep the focus of his jokes was how things have changed since his last stint on late night television. He comically told viewers that in his day, Instagram was a cocaine delivery service, and he managed to whip out an AOL CD-Rom.

Whether you loved or hated the return, it was definitely successful for Hall. Now, let’s see if the numbers continue to stay up.

Now we want to hear from you! Did you tune in to Arsenio Hall’s return to late night television? Will you be tuning in? We know you have an opinion, so feel free to share it by commenting below!

Refreshing to see a good show without the guy mentioning some sexual body part or event, like someone hiding a gun her vagina like Leno. It will be great to see that garbage mouth go

What I saw last night was very good and Arsenio had creative and funny stuff on there. His guests were Magic Johnson and George Lopez. Magic was very honest about the topics they spoke about and George had new comedy. Best of luck to Arsenio on his comeback.

I watched 2 1/2 men and office every night on fox for a few years. I hate that they changed shows. I wish arsenio hall good luck but hope fox changes time slot. It is messing up my tv watching. I refuse to watch it.

Arsenio Hall was and is a no-talent Eddie Murphy lackey. He survived in the 1990′s because it was during the heart of Hollywood’s cocaine era and all the TV people were too wacked out to know that he stunk.

Then, just when he was about to be finally cancelled he lucked into getting Magic Johnson to come on his show and talk about getting AIDS. This was tantamount to a female talk show host saving her show by announcing that she’s fighting cancer (more than one female talk show host used this dodge).

Hall might survive for awhile because Jimmy Fallon is no Johnny Carson, nor is he Jay Leno. And Seth Meyers is no Jimmy Fallon. But as soon as things get settled Hall should be gone, and hopefully we will never, ever hear from him again. Hall stinks!

yes Arsenio is the perfect host to do exactly what he did 20 years ago but he needs to educate some of the younger viewers and entertain the older crowd by showing clips of some of his guest in their hay day. Nobody else is doing what he can do but he must be more creative with this sort of like Ellen D and bring us back. You can do it Arsenio.

I’m willing to give him a chance, Meaning that I will be watching His show religiously for the next couple of weeks But if after then His guest list as well as his material is not updated and current then he will just have to go the way of many fail come back attempts. Out there but want to be Successful.
