This week, Arsenio Hall made his way back to late night television with the return of The Arsenio Hall Show. While Arsenio still seems to be stuck in the 90′s, the numbers are in and the Celebrity Apprentice winner’s return to late night television looks like it was a good decision!
Arsenio Hall made his return to late night television this week, and while Arsenio seemed to be stuck in the 1990′s (we need to give him a chance to get with the times), the return seemed to be a huge success – at least so far. According to the official Nielsen ratings, The Arsenio Hall Show debuted with an 1.9 HH rating/4 share, nearly doubling its time period average. Arsenio was #1 in adults 25-54 with a 1.2/5, and also #1 in adults 18-49 with a 1.0/4, ahead of all other late-night broadcast shows. Day two of the show fell slightly, but still beat out the competitors.
The return of The Arsenio Hall Show kicked off Monday evening, and proved that Hall’s easy going manner, sense of humor and impressive hosting skills were still there. The return included a skit by Hall pretending to talk about his hopes for the show, when Jay Leno popped up and said: “Yeah, good luck with that.” Guests included Chris Tucker, Snoop Dog aka Snoop Lion, and Paula Abdul, but Hall seemed to keep the focus of his jokes was how things have changed since his last stint on late night television. He comically told viewers that in his day, Instagram was a cocaine delivery service, and he managed to whip out an AOL CD-Rom.
Whether you loved or hated the return, it was definitely successful for Hall. Now, let’s see if the numbers continue to stay up.
