Elisabeth Hasselbeck Makes Her Debut On Fox & Friends

September 16, 2013 09:15 AM by Suzy Kerr

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is back on TV with her debut on the Fox News Morning show, Fox & Friends. The finalist from the second season of Survivor left The View in July after 10 years on the women-hosted gab fest. So what did she have to say about her former show on her first day?

Not much. She briefly praised former co-host and executive producer of The View, Barbara Walters, but quickly got right into politics discussing the controversy at the Miss American Pageant and Hilary Clinton’s investigation into Benghazi. But the show is not all politics, the new co-hosts also discussed Miley Cyrus and her twerking and another one of Elizabeth’s first assignments is sitting down with the members of the Robertson clan, stars of the reality smash hit, Duck Dynasty.

Known for her conservative views — which often brought controversy to The View — Elisabeth Hasselbeck was praised by Walters when she announced she was leaving the show. “When Elisabeth survived ‘Survivor,’ we wanted to make sure she would stay afloat,” she said  “We have had 10 wonderful years with her and she will now be swimming in new waters. We will miss her and wish her everything good.”

Although it had been rumored that Elisabeth Hasselbeck was being forced out from The View over her controversial and often outspoken ways, ABC also had great things to say regarding her departure. “She stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table never shying away from voicing a difficult question.  We thank Elisabeth and wish her luck as she begins this new chapter of her career.”

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is replacing  Gretchen Carlson on Fox & Friends and joins co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade on the 3-hour morning news show. Her 2 new co-hosts welcomed her with open arms and even joked about her joining their show when the announcement was made back in July by saying, “Can you imagine? She’s going to get the chance to be on a show where they let her talk”.
