Vanessa Lachey has a lot to celebrate this month. Her son Camden, with husband and former Stars Earn Stripes contestant and The Sing-Off host, Nick Lachey, had a major milestone when he turned 1-year-old and she has a new sitcom set to debut this week on Fox.
Who knew that Vanessa Lachey could predict the future? While promoting her new sitcom, Dads, she recently recalled that she “had one of those Oprah aha moments. Literally when I started at MTV and someone said, ‘Ten years from now, where do you see yourself? I remember vividly saying these three things: I see myself married to a great guy. Check — thank goodness! With at least two or three kids — one is good for now, as I’m learning I’ll take that slowly. And to have a multicam sitcom, because I think there’s something beautiful about being able to come into people’s homes and entertain them once a week.”
Starting this week her dreams are coming into fruition with the debut of Dads. From the team behind The Family Guy, Dads also stars Giovanni Ribisi and Seth Green as childhood friends whose lives are turned upside down when their dads move in with them.
The show has yet to debut, but it is already stirring up controversy and being panned by critics for being “crass, sexist and exploiting racial stereotypes”. But recently as the cast took the stage in front of reporters for a panel discussion, TV Guide tweeted that Vanessa Lachey was quick to defend her new show by saying, “I’m not saying this show is a lesson, but if we can’t laugh at ourselves, then what are we doing in this life?”
Dads premieres tomorrow night in a great time slot. It leads off a night of premieres by the much-buzzed-about new sitcom from SNL alum Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and the hit shows New Girl and The Mindy Project.
