Paula Patton clearly is not the jealous type, so we assumed she’d be okay with Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke’s raunchy rendition of Blurred Lines at the MTV Video Music Awards. Now, several weeks after the scandal, the Duets judge’s wife is finally speaking out. And as we suspected, she’s perfectly fine with Miley’s twerking. Go figure.
Several weeks ago, the world was shocked and just a bit disturbed to see Miley Cyrus grinding up against Robin Thicke in a very scandalous version of Blurred Lines. And then, of course, there was all the crazy twerking during Miley’s We Can’t Stop performance. Many viewers found themselves incredibly offended by these performances, but Paula Patton? Not a chance.
Robin Thicke’s wife recently told Andy Cohen that she doesn’t understand why everyone’s been making such a fuss over the VMAs fiasco. “Honestly, [Miley and Robin] rehearsed for three days beforehand, and I don’t know how not to dance with someone having their booty in your…all my friends do it like that. And I don’t really know what the big deal is.”
Not only does Miley’s dance style abide by what you’d see in pretty much any club, it’s exactly what you should expect from a star who spent the past year sexualizing her previously clean Disney image. Paula joked, “I didn’t know if they thought Miley was going to sit down and play piano like Alicia Keys. Her song’s about taking molly!”
Does Paula Patton make a good point? Is it silly for viewers to be offended, given the current expectation that Miley Cyrus will try her darndest to add shock value? Sound off in the comments section below!
