It’s about dang time Dancing With The Stars fans! Derek Hough already has four mirror ball trophies under his belt, and now the fan favorite pro dancer can add an Emmy Award to that list. Last night at the Emmy Awards Ceremony, Hough, who is already off to a strong start this season on the show, finally snagged his first Award!
It’s time to celebrate Dancing With The Stars fans! One of our favorite pro dancers, Derek Hough, managed to snag an Emmy Award last night for Outstanding Choreography! Hough received two nominations, both in the same category, competing with fellow choreographers, Allison Holker (also for Dancing With The Stars), Warren Carlyle (Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel), as well as So You Think You Can Dance’s Sonya Tayeh, Travis Wall, Napoleon Dumo, Tabitha Dumo and Mandy Jo Moore.
Instead of handing out the award a few weeks before the show, Derek was awarded last night, as Neil Patrick Harris gave all the nominees a challenge to choreograph separate numbers, all set to live music, to honor their skills at the main show. Hough seemed shocked that he actually won, telling the audience as he accepted the Award: “Wow, wow, wow, wow. Thank you, guys. Love you. I want to thank the BBC, Conrad Green, Ashley Edens, the whole team over at “Dancing with the Stars.” My mom, my dad, all my sisters. Julianne, I love you. Corky and Shirley Ballas, Mark Ballas. And – holy crap!”
As for his sister, Julianne, she was in the audience cheering him on, and giving her brother a standing ovation! A big congrats to Derek Hough on his well deserved win!
