Duck Dynasty has replaced Here Comes Honey Boo Boo as America’s favorite redneck reality show, achieving record ratings and impressive Duck Commander sales. But success has its downsides — beardless brother Alan Robertson complains of a complete lack of spare time.
If there ever was a family with a lot going on, it would be the Robertsons. Between running the Duck Commander business, filming for Duck Dynasty and sharing their wisdom in frequent sermons, the popular redneck guys never seem to have a spare moment available.
This is all old hat to the likes of Willie and Jase, but Alan’s still new to the frantic pace of life in Duck world. He recently confessed to the Shreveport Times, “There’s no down time. It’s still fantastic, but it’s definitely a little more of a grind now that everybody has side projects and are pulled in all different directions.” Part of the problem for Alan is simply adjusting to a new schedule, as various filming sessions have a way of blending in together. “I’m not sure if we’re still filming episodes for the current season or whether we’ve started filming for next season.”
Even Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson finds himself struggling to keep up with the chaos. But he figures it’s all a part of being in the public eye. “Life is definitely more hectic. One had better know who one is before something like this happens.”
Phil adds that his family members do their best to remain grounded in the midst of so much media attention. He has no interest in spiralling out of control, as many reality families (ahem, Lohans!) have done in the past. “Our greatest fear is that we might come out of this acting like Charlie Sheen.”
