Any Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fan can tell you that things aren’t always sunny in the Golden State, and Kyle Richards and her sister Kim know this firsthand. Kim’s struggle with alcoholism has been well documented on the show, but the now-sober reality star is doing fabulously these days, says sister Kim.
In an interview with E!, Kyle said, “My sister is doing incredible. She’s so strong and in such a great place. My nieces and nephews are amazing, and everyone is doing really, really well.” This is a stark change from circa-2011 Kim, whose downward spiral with booze resulted in increasingly erratic behavior that was on display for anyone with cable television to see.
These days, though, Kim is just saying no, and the alcohol is a thing of the past. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star acknowledged her problem, checked into rehab and got the help she desperately needed. But she couldn’t have done it without the support of her loved ones, who happily stepped up to the plate to help out.”You have to have your friends and family supporting you,” Kyle says in her E! interview. “I know it’s so difficult. Believe me, I wasn’t equipped to deal with it years ago because I didn’t understand that it really was a disease. I’m such a control freak that I was like, ‘Just get it together!’ You know, I didn’t understand. You really have to have the support of your family and friends and people around you that really get that it is a disease and that will have the patience and be supportive. ”
Kyle says that Kim’s battle with alcoholism has been the most intense situation she’s been involved in, but it’s obvious that Kim’s recovery has been a huge blessing for the family and that the outlook is for continued sobriety is good. Nice work, ladies.
