Duck Dynasty is about as family-friendly as a reality show gets, and yet, as you may have noticed, its episodes feature the occasional bleeped-out curse word. Except, as Phil Robertson explains, there’s no cussing to be bleeped out! What gives?
If there’s one thing we’d be interested in hearing, it’s Uncle Si on a profanity-laced tirade. But of course, that’s never gonna happen, because, not only are the Robertsons careful to avoid bad language, but any off-color words would quickly be bleeped out by Duck Dynasty’s dedicated team of editors. Not that the editors really have any curse words to bleep out in the first place!
Phil Robertson addressed this quandary earlier this year, in an interview with Sports Spectrum that recently went viral. He confessed to being very surprised to hear bleeping on the show, since, as far as he knew, “no one had used profanity.”
Confused about the purpose of what he calls “fake bleeps,” Phil wasn’t happy to have his smooth-talking family portrayed as being prone to obscenities. On Sports Spectrum, he complained, ”They’ve got about 15 or 20 editors there and they’re the ones who arrange the scenes…they’re the ones that said ‘You know, I think it’d look cool if we made it look like they’re cursing.’”
Clearly, Phil is not a fan of the “fake bleeps.” He thinks it’s pointless to suggest swearing on the show and we’re inclined to agree. This family is lovable, in part, because their vocabulary covers far more ground that the usual reality show F bomb.
