Michelle Duggar Speaks Out About Abortion And Plans To Back New Amendment

October 10, 2013 07:06 AM by Lisa Princ

It’s no secret that the Michelle Duggar loves having children, and the star of 19 Kids and Counting even revealed recently that she is trying for another one as we speak. So, it really does not surprise us at all that Duggar recently spoke out about abortion and her plans to back a new amendment in Tennessee! Details inside…

Tennessee is one of the easiest states to get an abortion – in fact, the state does not even require underage girls to get a parent’s consent before going through with a termination. But Michelle Duggar is hoping to change that, as she and her husband Jim Bob will be speakers at the Heartbeats for Life event, where they will rally folks to back a new amendment that they hope will be put in place in Tennessee. The proposed amendment would implement a waiting period for abortions, place greater restrictions on late-term abortions, and would require doctors to tell women a certain amount of information to be sure they are fully aware of the circumstances and options surrounding abortion.

“We are so excited to be coming to help kick off the push to get Amendment 1 passed. Since the extremely liberal state Supreme Court ruled in 2000 that the state of Tennessee cannot put any regulations on abortion, Tennessee has become an abortion procedure destination,” Michelle Duggar told Life News. Michelle also revealed that most other states have similar amendments in place, while Tennessee does not. She went on to explain: “Veterinarian clinics for animals in Tennessee have higher standards in health and safety laws than there are for the abortion clinics involving human life. We must join together and end the baby holocaust that is taking place right here in Tennessee.”

Kudos to the Duggars for standing up for what they believe in! What do you think of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar speaking at the event? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it! Comment below to share your thoughts with us.

My hope for this country is to outlaw ALL abortion. In fact if we started calling it what it really is ‘killing a living baby’, instead of calling it abortion, maybe that would be the first step in getting people to realize what they are doing. It doesn’t matter how long it has been since the baby has been conceived, killing any baby is wrong in God’s eyes. The option for these females who do not want to raise a child would be adoption. There are countless couples who can not get pregnant and would love to adopt those ‘unwanted children’. Please consider this people and encourage others too. this is NOT about ‘a woman’s right to choose’. There is NO CHOICE. This is about killing babies.

I would say that pro-lifers can’t have it both ways. If you want every child to get a chance at life & a family, you have to accept that these children need a home where they are loved..If it is a non-traditional family, such as gay couples or the unmarried. You would be open to that! Otherwise please don’t spout of your pro-life rhetoric.

Abortion should be legal everywhere. It’s not your place to push your beliefs on women just because you think your god is the only god. There are people who don’t believe in your god and are just fine with abortion. You are not the end all, be all and neither is your deity.

While I regard abortion as a necessary evil, I am pro choice to the bone. I respect everyone’s right to believe what they believe in & express what they believe respectfully. However, I do find certain phrases such as “baby holocaust” offensive. This issue in no way compares to a holocaust, & frankly, I would rather my daughter have the option of a safe medical procedure than some back alley abortion where she risks infection at the least, & death at worst. Why is it so hard to just agree to disagree & walk away with respect? We can preach abstinence, of course, but it would be naïve of us to think all children will go along with that idea. Why not just be honest & respectful of everyone’s POV including our children’s & move on.
