Still anxious to improve ratings for her ill-fated talk show, Bethenny Frankel will do just about anything to capture viewer interest. That includes airing embarrassing footage from her Real Housewives of New York City audition. Believe it or not, the reality star’s personality was even more grating prior to participation in the Real Housewives franchise.
Once upon a time, Bethenny Frankel did not spend her days in front of a rather unenthusiastic talk show audience. Prior to her stint on The Real Housewives of New York City, she worked as a celebrity chef, completing the occasional on-the-side stint such as an appearance on Martha Stewart’s version of The Apprentice.
That all changed the fateful day when our hero decided to get in on the thriving reality television business. She sent Bravo a brief video detailing her experiences as a celebrity chef. And on Monday’s episode of Bethenny, guest star Andy Cohen will force the host to relive her worst moments. Really, the tape’s excessive name-dropping and long culinary resume wouldn’t be too awful in and of itself. But add in a really awkward encounter with Bethenny’s driver, plus plenty of doggie-inspired baby talk, and you’ve got a whole lot of cringe
After witnessing the atrocity otherwise known as her audition tape, present day Bethenny exclaimed, “That was painful. That’s why I made it on the show?” We also are surprised that Bravo found the pre-Housewives Bethenny so compelling. Andy claims that producers appreciated her sense of humor, but honestly, she’s no funnier there than she is on her struggling talk show
