Ballroom shocker! One of the frontrunners on this season of Dancing With the Stars was sent packing last night, even though she had a nearly perfect score. Christina Milian was the unlucky star to get the boot this week, and after strong words of praise for her cha cha, the elimination came as quite a surprise to everyone in the ballroom, including Milian.
In her post-show interview, the 28-year old correspondent for The Voice said, “It’s a true shock, I wasn’t expecting that, but we had I think the best performance tonight that we had thus far.” The judges certainly agreed with her, with Len Goodman giving her the first 10 of the season. Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba both rewarded her with 9s, resulting in an impressive total of 28 points. Even her high score couldn’t keep her out of the bottom three, however, and Milian found herself up for elimination alongside Elizabeth Berkley and Leah Remini.
Her position in the bottom three was shock to everyone present, as Milian had danced her heart out the night before. The theme was “most memorable year” and it was apparent that the dancers put heart and soul into their performances, pouring their feelings into dances that were truly emotional. Performing the cha cha to “Forget You” by CeeLo Green, it was clear that Milian’s inspiration came from her 2010 divorce, especially when she dedicated the dance to all the wives and girlfriends out there who have been cheated on.
After the elimination announcement, Milian reflected on her Dancing With the Stars experience, saying “I’ve made some great memories, great friends here, everybody’s been fantastic. It’s been something that I’ve learned a lot about myself just being here … you know if you take a challenge and you take a great risk, you become a better person.”
So what do you think about Christina Milian’s elimination last night? Was it deserved or should someone else have gotten the axe? Tell us in the comments!
