Kelly Clarkson, the season 1 winner of American Idol, got hitched over the weekend, and now we’ve got all the details – and video proof! – of the intimate ceremony with music manager Brandon Blackstock. After scrapping their original plans for a big wedding extravaganza in the backyard of their Nashville home, the pair opted instead for a low-key, super private ceremony at a farm in Tennessee.
The romantic event took place on Sunday, and the only guests were Brandon’s children from a previous marriage, Savannah and Seth. Talk about private! Even the location was secluded, set on the sprawling acreage owned by Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN. The changing autumn leaves and expansive fields provided a gorgeous and rustic background for the nuptials. The bride and groom were dressed classically, Brandon in a dark suit and Kelly in an ivory lace gown with long sleeves.
So what made the couple ditch their original plans for a big ceremony? Kelly says the stress of planning such a huge event finally took its toll, and they decided they didn’t need an extravagant day after all. “Our whole life is a celebration,” she said. “That’s what we kept laughing about. We don’t need another day where we throw a big party. We would rather have an intimate moment that’s special.”
But what about family and friends who might have felt left out? Not to worry…..Brandon and Kelly had the entire ceremony filmed so their loved ones can enjoy it. She even tweeted a clip of the video, which is set to “Heavenly Day” by Patti Griffin and shows the couple exchanging vows and kissing.
Congrats, Kelly Clarkson! You’ve come a long way since you first auditioned for American Idol, and you’ve always kept it classy – and that’s not easy to do when you’re famous.
What do you think of Kelly’s wedding? Did she make the right choice with the scaled-down version, or should have kept the plans for a huge affair? Tells us in the comments!
