We’ve learned plenty about the inner workings of The Bachelorette through Chris Harrison’s rambling blog posts, but now, we get to experience a whole new take on the reality television quest for true love. Chris Siegfriend wrote a series of poems during his time on The Bachelorette, and now, he’s teaming up with fiance Desiree Hartsock to publish the exclusive collection!
Turns out, Chris Siegfried is much more than just a pretty (albeit, man pretty) face — he also possesses a clear talent for the written word! The reality star recently published a collection of Bachelorette-inspired poems, dubbed Diamonds and Hearts: A Poetic Memoir. In addition to several pieces written as he attempted to woo Desiree Hartsock, the collection also includes two poems from the Bachelorette herself, also a budding wordsmith.
The publication of Chris Siegfried’s poetry was made possible by fellow contestant Zach Kalter, who, despite being dumped during the fourth rose ceremony, harbors no ill feelings towards Des and Chris. When he’s not dabbling in reality television, Zach works as a publisher. So clearly, he knew what he was talking about when he told Chris, “Hey, you should probably publish this at some point.”
Zach adds that a shared love of poetry helped to cement Chris and Desiree’s relationship. In an interview with Us Weekly, he explained, “Des has been writing poetry herself for many years in a journal, so she was already kind of on that bandwagon when Chris came along. I think that they really bonded over that passion…she obviously liked the fact that he’s able to express himself through words.”
