If you know anything about Alana Thompson’s family, you’ll recall that they love holiday celebrations — Halloween in particular. Not to be outdone by the reality TV competition, the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo clan will be going all out this weekend, hosting a spooktacular haunted barn in Perry, Georgia. Sounds like a good time!
If you were looking forward to a Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Halloween special, you’ll have to wait a few months. Unlike some reality families (ahem, Kardashians), the Thompsons actually film holidays when they’re taking place. Yes, this means that we have to wait several months before witnessing the festivities, but it also leaves the feeling of authenticity lacking on so many reality shows.
But it’s not just timing that separates the Honey Boo Boo Halloween special from the competitors. We also get to witness the spirit of philanthropy that distinguishes the Thompsons far more than their redneck wardrobes and excessive fart jokes. Case in point: as Mama June mentioned on Alana’s official Facebook page, the family will be teaming up with the Perry Haunted Barn to host an exclusive haunted event, which will include a tour of the haunted barn, as well as one of the equally scary attic. The truly courageous will also have the opportunity to supplement these spooky activities with a tour of Perry’s zombie house. But the barn is definitely where it’s at, as this is where Sugar Bear, Uncle Poodle and the Thompson gals will hang out — and attempt to scare visitors! As you may have guessed, all of this Halloween chaos will be filmed for a future episode of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. We’re already looking forward to seeing self-described ”big ole baby” Mama June freaking out!
We think the event sounds pretty cool in and of itself, but our favorite part is that all the proceeds go to charity. And as if that’s not enough community support, Mama June is encouraging visitors to bring canned goods for an onsite food drive. In her Facebook announcement, the reality mom admits that, due to its charitable focus, the Perry Haunted House serves as “the right team project for everyone.” We definitely agree!
