Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may live their lives very much in the public eye, but the power couple drew the line when it came to the huge birthday party/proposal that went down last week. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star and her rapper fiancée wanted to keep the event private, with just their family and closest friends, and NO media presence. Chad Hurley, YouTube co-founder, had other ideas, however, and now Kim and Yeezy are suing him for sneaking into the party and leaking video of the proposal.
TMZ is reporting that Kanye and Kim claim Hurley wasn’t even invited to the party, and that he somehow managed to sneak in. After convincing staffers to let him inside AT&T Stadium where the bash was being held, the web entrepreneur signed a confidentiality agreement like all the other party guests, pledging to, ya know, keep things confidential.
Apparently, scrawling his name on a legally binding document didn’t mean much to him, because Hurley secretly filmed the moment when Kanye popped the question to his baby mama and then uploaded the two and a half minute video to his new video app, MixBit. He then – stupidly – tweeted a link to the video with the caption, “So this happened last night. Congrats Kim & Kanye!”
Yo, Hurley, if you sign a non-disclosure agreement, it would probably be a good idea to NOT include your identity when you disclose whatever it is you’ve agreed NOT to disclose. Mkay?
After learning of the unlawful upload, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star and her man made the call to sue the tech savvy (but lacking common sense) party-crasher for unspecified damages. The lawsuit also claims that “Hurley proceeded to try to turn the event into one starring himself, broadcasting the images he knew were the exclusive property rights of someone else.” Now that’s just rude.
So what do you think about Kanye West’s and Kim Kardashian’s very first lawsuit as an engaged couple? This is an exciting milestone, right?! Tells us your thoughts in the comments!
