Ruben Studdard Shocker! Idol Champ Booted From The Biggest Loser In Week Four

November 06, 2013 10:00 AM by Lisa Princ

We’ve got to admit it, like most fans, we were really looking forward to watching American Idol‘s season two winner Ruben Studdard get healthy and lose weight on The Biggest Loser, but for his size, the singer seemed to be having a lot of trouble dropping pounds each week. So while it was a bit shocking, we shouldn’t be too surprised that Studdard was eliminated last night! What a huge disappointment…

In three weeks, Ruben Studdard, who started his journey on The Biggest Loser at 462 pounds, lost a total of 34 pounds. Based on past seasons, that is not a lot of loss for someone of his size, and honestly, he should have lost that amount in week one alone. Being the heaviest person on the ranch, we definitely expected Studdard to be around for a while, but last night, after consuming way too many calories in a temptation challenge, Studdard lost a pathetic 5 pounds.

Meanwhile, Ruben’s teammate Tanya Winfield, the one who lost nothing last week and was saved by Dolvett Quince, lost only 3 pounds. Unfortunately for Ruben though, Tayna happened to be much smaller than him, leaving him with the lowest percentage of weight loss on the red team. Studdard was sent packing last night, and honestly, he didn’t seem very upset by it. In fact, he didn’t seem to be motivated enough in the four weeks we watched him, leaving us to wonder if he will actually continue his journey at home.

Sorry Ruben, we love you, but you were definitely disappointing on The Biggest Loser!

What did you think of Ruben Studdard on The Biggest Loser? Did you think he would go home so soon? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it! Sound off in the comments section and let us know!

Ruben is a class act!! Sure I’m sorry to see him go, but he didn’t deserve to. No one lost in the double digits last night. I hope he comes back in the finale and shows them a new Ruben. One thing we can count on is his always present SMILE!! Go Ruben!!

I think its terrible that this article looks down upon his weight loss, saying “a pathetic 5 lbs” is atrocious. ANY weight loss is still one step closer to being healthy and taking that away from him is an evil thing to do…you should reevaluate your profession in journalism you a**holes

Haven’t had any use for Ruben since he “beat” Clay Aiken on American Idol. I tried to vote for Clay at least 100 times, only to get busy signals. Was it rigged?

Compared to other big guys on the BL, Ruben did not put up the big numbers. Dolvett says he put in the work so I’m wondering if he ate more that just the temptation candy?! Ruben is a lovable guy and it would have been fun to see him go the distance. I’m also kind of sad he took the spot of someone who would have had a stronger commitment.
