The Country Music Awards were on last night, and as expected, all of the genre’s biggest names were there. Some of reality TV’s brightest stars were on hand as well, and when bearded brothers Jase and Willie Robertson of Duck Dynasty joined hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood onstage for the opening monologue, it was purely quacktacular. See what I did there? Quack + spectacular = quacktacular = hilarious, right? No? Fine….
Anyway, during the opening sequence, Brad and Carrie began with a few perfectly timed Obamacare jokes and then a comical exchange about twerking and giant teddy bears. Way to go, Miley! People are still talking about you, so your attempts to stay relevant are working so far! Of course the act wouldn’t be complete without some sort of reenactment of Miley’s infamous “Blurred Lines” performance, and that’s when the men of Duck Dynasty made their grand entrance, because why not? Everyone associates duck call makers with suggestive dancing, right?
As the music played in the background, Brad and Carrie sang a slightly entirely different version of the hit song, (i.e., appropriate for children under the age of 17) while Jase, Willie and their wives shook what their mamas gave ‘em on stage. While they certainly weren’t dry humping teddy bears or violating foam fingers, the Robertsons didn’t hold back with their dancing moves, either – especially Willie, who gave twerking his best attempt when he backed his redneck booty up on Carrie Underwood.
After the hips stopped shaking on stage and the laughter died down in the audience, the Robertsons got down to business and presented the award for Single of the Year. Florida Georgia Line snagged the award for their hit “Cruise,” but I’m guessing the moment was made even sweeter for the country act since they got to see those Robertson beards up close and personal. I mean, beards are in right now, and those guys are just awesome – that would be a treat for anyone, amiright?
So what did you think of the performance by the Duck Dynasty stars? Were you cracking up or were you too distracted by those bountiful beards? Tell us in the comments!
