Kate Gosselin’s Cookbook A Big Disappointment To Fans

November 11, 2013 01:00 PM by Lisa Princ

While Jon Gosselin may be enjoying the simple life, his ex-wife, Kate Gosselin is still trying to remain in the spotlight. However, her latest attempt to keep her fame going in a new cookbook is proving to be nothing but a big disappoint to fans of the former Kate Plus 8 star!

Kate Gosselin seems to be doing anything possible to stay in the spotlight, but how much will she embarrass herself before finally giving up? Gosselin’s latest endeavor, a cookbook, is failing miserably and getting horrible reviews! According to a new report by Radar Online, Gosselin’s cookbook, Love Is In The Mix, is all the way down at number 14,944 on Amazon’s sales list.

Even worse are the amount of awful reviews coming in for the cookbook! In fact, one angry customer wrote: “What a terrible waste of time and money. Recipes seem to be recycled from the back of soup cans and internet recipe sites,” while another referred to it as a “celebrity vanity book.” Other folks feel that Gosselin doesn’t have the skills to even write a cookbook. One grandmother, who was hoping to get some good recipes for her grandchildren, was not pleased at all, claiming the book is loaded with pictures and very basic recipes, adding :”My daughter and daughter-in-law would shoot me if I fed their children most of these recipes.”

Ironically, after a bunch of awful reviews, some good ones began to magically appear. That leaves us all wondering if Kate Gosselin wrote some of those comments herself?

Now it’s your turn to sound off! What do you think of Kate Gosselin’s cookbook? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it! Comment below to share your thoughts with us!

After previewing this in a local bookstore, my impression is this “cookbook” was nothing more than a money-making vehicle for Ms Gosselin that was hastily churned out, as there are several sloppy editing errors, along with mismatched photos. The premise for a Kate Gosselin “cookbook” lacks credibility–I’ve read articles where she has been quoted as saying she feeds only organic foods to her kids, so for me to believe her kids have eaten these recipes filled with non-organic, high-sodium, MSG-laced ingredients is difficult to swallow. No pun intended…

Many of the recipes require high-sodium ingredients such as canned soup or shoyu, which I would NOT want to feed to my son. Cooking from cans is not my idea of a cookbook, and if I wanted to cook that way, I can order one of Campbell’s cookbooks on Amazon. At least their cookbooks are proofread, the recipes tested, and attractively and professionally presented. If Kate has to rely on high-sodium, MSG-laced ingredients in her recipes for flavoring, I have to question her qualifications to author a cookbook in the first place.

There wasn’t anything new, creative or imaginative in this “cookbook”, just very basic recipes that you can easily find on the internet; her recipes appear to be copied verbatim from recipe-sharing websites. Some of her recipes were vague on the quantity of ingredients, which indicates how amateurish this publishing endeavor was. Some had questionable proportions, such as the amount of lemon juice in her hummus recipe. I have yet to see a GOOD cookbook where several recipes do not list the exact amount for ingredients, so it appears there was no “testing” of these recipes.

Interestingly, Gosselin has also been quoted as saying that “if you have to use a recipe, you can’t cook” yet here she is with a cookbook filled with recipes.

This “cookbook” seems to be rehashed internet recipes along with rehashed old photos of her kids. It is a sordid attempt to stay relevant in the public eye and clearly a last-gasp attempt to cash in on the Gosselin name.

Kate needs to wise up and stop trying to be what she is not .. a celebrity! She needs to get back to being a nurse (if she really ever was on) and help support those kids she gave birth to. After seeing her behavior on DWTS years ago I am surprised anyone would want her as a guest on their show. I agree with what Deb posted earlier, MAKE HER DISAPPEAR….PLEASE!!!
