Someone please explain to me how Bill Engvall is still on Dancing With the Stars? Oh, you can’t? That’s what I thought. Yet, in spite of his consistent butchering of classic dances, the comedian continues to hang on, while celebs with genuine talent on the dance floor are eliminated. This week’s elimination was another shocker, and the unfortunate star sent packing was frontrunner Elizabeth Berkley.
Last night’s episode had each of the couples dancing a number together, and then they also performed a trio dance with another previously eliminate pro. Elizabeth and her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy danced a Viennese waltz which earned them a solid 26 points. While judge Len Goodman didn’t love it, Carrie Ann Inaba complimented the actress’s “breathtaking lines.” Next up was the trio dance, and Gleb Savchenko was the lucky extra chosen for the task. The three delivered an enthusiastic salsa that netted them a perfect 30, but the real treat was the abs on display, courtesy of Val and Gleb.Yum, salsa.
In spite of the high scores and an overall near-perfect performance tonight, Elizabeth Berkley found herself in the bottom two along with Bill Engvall and Emma Slater. While the foursome waited for the announcement, Emma looked like she had her foot out the door already, that’s how certain she was that Bill was going to get the axe.It was hard to tell who was more surprised – her or Elizabeth – when the actress’s name was called.
Elizabeth handled her exit with the typical poise of all the eliminated stars, saying, “Honestly, I’m beyond grateful for this, it was one of the biggest gifts and blessings in my life and I want to thank everyone, especially Val.” Am I the only one that finds myself wishing that, just once, one of these celebs who has been unfairly booted would go into full-on meltdown mode, demanding justice?
So what do you think about last night’s shocking elimination on Dancing with the Stars? Can you believe that Bill is going to be in the quarter finals? Sound off in the comments!
