With Toni Braxton supposedly taking a break from showbiz — and fans of Braxton Family Values know just how long that lasted — fellow musician and sister Tamar Braxton has found herself stepping into the spotlight. The singer’s latest and greatest project? Winter Loversland, a Christmas album that appeals to single and taken ladies alike.
Her Hot Sugar video may have been the ultimate disappointment, but Tamar Braxton has plenty of other recent career accomplishments to make up for the huge music video fail. Right now, the Tamartian fan base is most excited about the Winter Loversland Christmas album, a compilation of holiday favorites and new, Christmas-inspired tunes.
Tamar loves Christmas music and claims to spend a good portion of each holiday season listening to festive albums. But as she recently told the Washington Post, ”I thought it had been a while since there was a romantic Christmas album.”
Never one to leave her favorite music genre with a gaping hole, Tamar charged herself with the challenge of creating an album that, in addition to celebrating holiday love, would also reflect the realities of enduring the Christmas season as a single. This is particularly true of the track She Can Have You, which, according to Tamar, is “for the women — and I’ve been there before — who don’t have a man on Christmas. Every single year, it’s the most frustrating thing in the whole world. Everybody has their mates but you don’t have anybody because you don’t want to settle.”
Check out Tamar Braxton’s rendition of the popular Christmas tune Sleigh Ride, which we’ve posted below. When you’re done, head to the comments section and let us know what you think!
