Graham Elliott, we hardly recognize you! Since dropping nearly 130 pounds in the last five months, the MasterChef host and restaurateur is looking much slimmer – and healthier – these days. And his appearance isn’t the only thing that’s different, either. Just last week, Graham completed his first 5K run – something that the old Graham wouldn’t have been able to do.
After participating in the Ditka Dash 5K in Chicago on Nov. 30, Graham told People, “I have been jogging and training since the summer, working up to three miles. The race was amazing! The feeling of crossing the finish line was a great sense of accomplishment.” He also shared photos on Twitter from the race, showing off an impressive time of 34 minutes and 49 seconds, along with a nice shot of himself and wife Allie. He captioned the pic, “Just finished my first #5K (thanks to my wife Allie’s coaching). Excited for the next one!”Awww, nice work, G!
Graham, who’s one of three hosts on MasterChef, famously underwent a sleeve gastrectomy procedure back in July. Since then, he’s dropped 128 pounds, which he showed off in a before-and-after pic on social media on Dec. 4.The photo, captioned “Weight loss update: now weighing in at 268lbs, down from 396lbs. Thanks everyone for the continued support!” shows a dramatically slimmer Graham smiling and sporting some skintight jogging leggings – and looking good doing it.
It has certainly been an exciting year for the reality star/foodie. Aside from dropping all the weight and completing his first race, he also just opened a new restaurant in Greenwich, Connecticut. But for a man that’s built his career around food, adopting a healthier diet and lifestyle hasn’t been all roses. He admits, “If friends are eating fast food or baking fresh chocolate chip cookies, it’s difficult not to grab even a tiny piece. Mentally, I’ve got to start thinking of that stuff as the enemy.” However, it sounds like Graham is busy getting his head in the game, and he even has long term goals of joining his friends and co-hosts Gordon Ramsay and Joe Bastianich in the Chicago marathon next year.
